Frequently Asked Questions

  • What Is the Lifespan of Concrete?
Under ideal circumstances, a newly paved driveway can last up to 40 years. However, several factors, including extreme weather, can shorten its lifespan and lead to excessive gaps, cracks, spalling, chipping, or discoloration.
  • When Should I Schedule Repairs?
You should schedule concrete driveway repair services if you’ve noticed:
    • Shifting or Uneven Sections of Concrete
    • Cracks & Gaps
    • Holes
    • Chipping or Spalling
  • How Do I Know If I Need Repairs or a Replacement?
Only a professional can help you determine this, as it will vary based on your driveway’s age and overall condition. The entire concrete driveway will need to be replaced if there are foundational or structural issues. If you are unsure which service you need, please schedule an inspection with us today, and our team will help you find the most cost-effective solution.
  • What Causes Concrete Damage & How Can I Prevent It?
Extreme weather changes (freeze-thaw cycling) are the most common cause of concrete cracks, gaps, and other damage. Other causes of damage include exposure to road salt and improper installations (using the wrong concrete mix, not mixing the concrete properly, inadequate framing, etc.). Continual maintenance can help prevent significant damage.
  • What Maintenance Does a Concrete Driveway Need?
Concrete is relatively low-maintenance. Recommended maintenance tasks include:
    • Keeping the driveway clean via sweeping and pressure washing. Do not use a high setting when pressure washing.
    • Sealing the driveway every 3 to 5 years.
    • Broadcasting polymeric sand in paver cracks if the driveway is made with concrete pavers.
    • Keeping the driveway free of snow and ice in the winter. Do not use deicing salt. Use a deicing solution specifically formulated for concrete, like calcium chloride.
  • How Much Does a New Driveway Installation Cost?
The cost of a new driveway will vary based on the size of the project (size of the driveway being installed), the type of concrete used, and whether the driveway will be stamped or colored. When you schedule a project consultation with our team, we will happily provide you with a quote, including a breakdown of costs.
  • How Long Will It Take to Install a New Driveway?
The time it takes to install your driveway will also vary based on several factors, including:
    • Project Size
    • Project Complexity
    • Weather
If your driveway is being installed in the spring or summer, there could be some delays, as concrete cannot be installed during extremely windy and/or rainy days. Temperature and humidity are also factors; certain concrete mixes have recommended temperature ranges for installation, and if the relative humidity is high, the concrete will take longer to cure.
  • When Should I Install a New Driveway?
Late spring and early fall are the best times of the year to install a new driveway. Summer can be difficult due to the extreme heat and humidity, and in the winter, the extreme cold can impact the curing time of the concrete.
  • How Long After an Installation Can I Park on My Driveway?
You can typically walk on your driveway within 48 hours after your driveway has been installed. However, it’s recommended that you wait even longer before you park your car. Some concrete mixes can take up to 30 days to fully cure. You want to ensure the concrete has cured before you park on it. Curing time will vary based on temperature and humidity.  After we install your driveway, our team will provide you with an estimate.
