Commemorative Walls

Our commemorative walls surround the Memorial.

Honoring Past, Present and Future

Our North wall features scenes from the past. The theme of this wall is a “Nation That Forgets Its Past Has No Future.” Our other wall, the Branches of Service Wall lists the emblems of the five armed services—Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard—and the Merchant Marines. These walls represent the cost of freedom since the beginning of our country.

All of these walls in the Memorial have been beautifully laser engraved, giving them an elegant appeal. These walls all have one thing in common; showcasing love and loyalty to absolute freedom and our great country. Many of our visitors leave flowers along these gorgeous commemorative walls to pay tribute to each veteran and their respective branch of service.

Peacoat Memorial Wall

Joe Zikewich of USS Lexington-WWII is the creator of the Peacoat Monument. This monument is dedicated to all military personnel from all branches of service who have made the supreme sacrifice by giving their lives for this great country and are buried beneath the oceans and seas around the world.

There is no cross to mark the grave where they now lie. Rarely are they or their families given the recognition for what they have done in service to our country. This is our way of saying thanks to those that are lost to us. We’re proud to honor those who never found their way home.
