Nearly a Century of Entertainment History

A local landmark.

The Emerald Theatre first opened in 1921 as a grand movie palace and vaudeville live performance venue known as the Macomb Theatre. The 23,000-square-foot venue was designed by renowned theater architect, C. Howard Crane – also the creative mastermind behind Detroit’s Orchestra Hall and Fox Theatre.

Throughout the years, the theatre’s stage has been the platform for local rising-star performers, as well as some of the greats: Kid Rock, the Cult, Alice in Chains, Styx, Gerald Albright, Uncle Kracker, Vince Neil, Mike Posner, The Cult, The Psychedelic Furs, Motörhead, Pearl Jam, Michael Bolton, Joe Nichols, and Kenny G, to name a few.

Newly renovated in 2016, the Emerald Theatre, with a capacity of 1,620 on its main floor, balcony and mezzanine levels is one of the largest venues of its kind in metropolitan Detroit.

Experience tomorrow’s history with today’s favorite performers and create your “I was there” moment.
